Randy Pelish -Contributor

Randy Pelish, a native of Arkansas, is a graduate of Illinois State University and the University of California, Davis, where he received his MFA (master of fine arts) degree majoring in theater arts.  He credits his late father for his passion for the cinema.

Randy worked as an actor with James Whitmore, Rex Harrison, James Woods and other stars of note in Hollywood.  He had a recurring role as Carla’s brother Sal on the TV program Cheers.

Jesse James Ziegler – Contributor

Jesse James Ziegler earned a degree in Philosophy (with a concentration in Ethics and Society) from Cal Poly SLO as well as a double minor in Spanish and Speech Communication. He was admitted to the Master’s Program in English, but decided that he wanted to create a great adventure of his own rather than only reading about the ones that others had done. After leaving the University he began traveling extensively on the international level and working all over these United States. He has been an active member of Spoken Views Collective (Western Nevada’s longest standing Spoken Word/Slam/Poetry Open Mic Organization) since shortly after relocating from the D.C. area in the fall of 2014. He currently serves on the Board, and is the host of their special event series ‘Poets of the Caribbean’. He is actively involved with growing the poetry community at various local venues including the Bruka Theatre, Good Luck Macbeth Theatre Co., Merry War Theatre Group, the Holland Project, Sierra Arts, West Street Market, and Barnes and Noble Booksellers. He runs all of the social media for ‘Poets of the Caribbean’ and ‘Sideways Eight Projects’ (his personal blog) and is extremely excited to be a regular contributor to Reno Arts News. Poetry will always be his first love as he believes in its ongoing ability to be a medium for personal growth as well as social commentary, awareness, and relevance.
