Benny Hill meets class warfare in this comical look at wealth, fame, greed, and the art of kidnapping.
Bruka Theater’s newest production is “Abducting Diana”, written by Dario Fo the Italian satirist, playwright, theatre director, actor, and composer. This is a fun story of a group of wannabe kidnappers taking a shot at kidnaping Diane Forbes-McKaye, this proves to be a bit more than they were prepared to do.
Diana is a clever, spoiled, and sexual creature who finds a way to have fun at the kidnaper’s expense. Her mission is to find out just who is behind the plan and perhaps take her revenge.
This is a laugh a minute three hours that will have you guessing who is who and making you uncomfortable as Diana does an impression of Tesla (the inventor of AC electricity).
The hapless kidnappers are brilliant with equal parts enthusiasm and slow-witted entitlement. The three actors (Christopher, Vincent, and Kevin) who play the kidnappers play off of each other in very funny ways.
Stacey Spain who plays Diana is the center of all of the action and makes us believe that Diana is crafty and unapologetically sadistic.
