Art Trek for March 3rd, 2023

~By Dana Nöllsch~

This week we took a look at three galleries. One gallery has dark work that may not be for the faint of heart, one gallery takes on the casino gaming industry with humor, and the last gallery has fine art photography that will bring you happiness.

So join us, Will you?

Pitch Black Printing

“Oblivion Access” An Art Show by Eldgien

Our first stop was Pitch Black Printing, where Eldgien (@Eldgienart) has art on exhibit. I was fascinated with the technique and the feeling of his work. The work is dark and well done and will appeal to those whose taste runs to the dark side. I want everyone to check out Eldgien’s work and let me know your thoughts.

His art will hang in the gallery until March 15th.

City Hall’s Metro Gallery

Fat Chance by Joan Arrizabalaga

Joan Arrizabalaga takes a look at casino gaming with a historically pointed view. Arrizabalaga uses playing cards, casino dice, gaming table felt, and other found objects in her art that will draw you in, finding little details that will bring a smile to your face, but perhaps casinos will not be so amused, and I do like that.

Artists Co-op Gallery

Photo Fandango

As you know, photography has always been a love of mine. Each year the Artists Co-op puts on an exhibition that is perfect for me, a photography exhibit with many of the best fine art photographers in Reno.

This year is no exception, and I am happy to have some of my work hanging on the walls alongside some of my favorite photographer friends. There is a wide variety of work from fine art landscapes, wildlife, abstract, and more. Take a look at the photos of the exhibition.

Alan Wright is the guest artist this month at the Artists Co-op as well. Wright’s paintings cover a wide variety of styles and subjects. I will spend more time taking in the art on display from this month’s guest artist.

Be sure to join the artist for the reception on Sunday, March 5, 12-4 pm.

The show runs from March 1-31, 2023

See you at the reception.
