The Generator
Our first stop was The Generator, a large space for creatives. This was our first time in the new location of The Generator, they were in the industrial section of Sparks for years, but now they are on Oddie Boulevard in an old strip mall.
We were taken on a tour, and this space is very impressive. The Generator has spaces for individual artists, groups, and large builds as well. The Generator has a Burning Man feel, and many large pieces for burning man are built there every year.
The Generator offers rental space for artists, day passes, and even a wide variety of classes so that you can hone your artistic skills. When we were there, the boy scouts were using the space to make pinewood derby cars.
Free tours are available between 10 am – 6 pm Thursday or Saturday.

The Savage Mystic Gallery
This month at The Savage Mystic Gallery, there are two artists featured. Rory Terrell and Samuel J Foote.
Terrell creates art from soil and motor oil held in a plexiglass frame. These pieces are unique and should be seen in person to get the full effect.
Foote’s work is colorful and dream-like, making for quite a contrast to Terrell’s art.

Reno Public Market
With much anticipation, the Reno Public Market is about to officially open this weekend. We checked out the market’s soft opening last Saturday, and it looks to become an exceptional space. The food court certainly was getting a lot of attention.
When completed, there will be a maker’s space, a gallery space, a stage for music or presentations, a meeting space, and a retail space. I was surprised to hear that REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED is looking to REDACTED REDACTED in the near future. That will be an interesting addition to the Reno Public Market.
This weekend we will be at the Reno Public Market to see live art demonstrations and the Sierra Water Color Society’s exhibition in the new gallery space. If you see us there, be sure to say hi.
