Art Trek, “Guillermo Bert: The Journey” at the NMA

Guillermo Bert creates multimedia artworks that tell stories and enlighten the viewer. Highly conceptualized, Bert’s exhibition at the Nevada Museum of Art is a delight with a mix of traditional art and new technology.

Guillermo Bert was born and raised in Santiago, Chile, and emigrated to the US in 1981 for an inclusive society. While attending art school, Bert discovered the versatility of the then-new technology, laser cutting machines. Most of Bert’s art utilizes laser cutting in the creation.

When you enjoy the artwork, you will see that many of the works have QR Codes that, when scanned, take you to a deeper explanation of the work and the stories behind Bert’s creations.

Bert’s love of technology manifested in creating his own manufacturing company in Los Angeles. LA Laser Cutting Services helps finance Bert’s exceptional artistic journey.

You will see in Bert’s art that he always remembered his roots in Chile and the struggle many immigrants face when coming to America in search of a better, more fulfilling life.

The Retrospective Exhibit of Guillermo Bert’s art over the last fifteen years is truly remarkable, inspiring, and a bit emotional.

Look at the video where Bert takes us on a tour of his exhibit, and you will be ready to see the exhibition for yourself.

“Guillermo Bert: The Journey” runs August 26, 2023 – February 4, 2024, in the John Hawley Olds Lagatta Gallery located on floor three at the Nevada Museum of Art, Reno, NV.
