SUMMARY:Colors of Work
DESCRIPTION:Colors of Work is an inspiring exhibition featuring artwork by student-intern artists from the Transition Academy\, which operates through the Washoe County School District. The artists displayed in this exhibition are all young adults with intellectual and cognitive disabilities who are actively preparing their next steps through vocational training\, career exploration\, and workplace readiness. \nAt Transition Academy\, interns participate in supported\, hands-on learning experiences across a variety of industries\, visiting local businesses and job sites as they build practical skills and confidence. Each day\, the interns develop independence and self-advocacy through their training and engagement with their peers. \nUnder the guidance of Anne Hunter\, a Teaching Artist with Arts for All Nevada\, these interns have created a vibrant collection of mixed media works. Combining painting\, photography\, and other materials\, their pieces reflect their personal experiences of work - what it feels like to learn\, to contribute\, and build a meaningful future. \nEach artwork offers a unique perspective on livelihood: what motivates them\, what challenges them\, and what brings them pride. Colors of Work is both a celebration of creativity and a powerful expression of identity\, purpose\, and independence. \nTo learn more about what Arts for all Nevada offers\, please visit: https://www.artsforallnevada.org/ \nGallery West\, located in McKinley Arts & Culture Center is one of three galleries operated by the City of Reno.
