The amazement of this program lies in its exquisite musicality and its capacity for leapfrogging from genre to genre\, each marked by his haunting\, soulful wit. Baptista’s visionary approach to music-making stresses inclusion\, community and pushing past boundaries\, while remaining refreshingly fun. \nCyro’s endless sonic curiosity and intense rhythmic led him to create serval ensembles and record many albums of his own\, touring continuously throughout the world with them. DESCRIPTION:Dr. Yoon Hwang\, associate professor of bassoon at the University of Central Florida\, presents a lecture recital exploring the cultural connections between Korea and the US in the early Cold War. Ely Haimowitz (1920-2010)\, a former piano professor at UNR\, served as the Cultural Officer of the United States Army Military Government in Korea (USAMGIK). He played a significant role in establishing the Korea Symphony Orchestra and facilitated the education of talented Korean classical musicians in the US during the early Cold War era. She will also perform compositions by Kim Sunnam with UNR keyboard faculty Dr. Bryan Chuan.
