DESCRIPTION:Venga y júntese a las Humanidades de Nevada\, y Arte y Cultura Latina el sábado 19 de abril de 2025\, desde las 11:00 am a la 1:30 pm en la biblioteca Sierra View en Reno\, para disfrutar de una tarde llena de música\, poesía y conversación\, mientras celebramos la comunidad y poesía latina. El catedrático Manuel Murrieta-Saldívar\, uno de los profesores titulares de literatura y lengua española\, de la Universidad del Estado de California\, Stanislaus\, dará sus observaciones introductorias. Exploraremos temas de familia\, herencia\, lenguaje\, y el significado de ser un Latino de hoy en día. Contará con presentaciones de rap de Orlando Oh y poesía de Mario de la Rosa\, Jafeth Sanchez\, Genevy Machuca\, y Elisa Garcia\, en inglés\, español\, y spanglish. Luego seguirá una conversación guiada. \nEste evento es gratis y abierto al público\, pero le pedimos que por favor haga su reserva en avanzado. \nLatino Poetry: Places We Call Home (Lugares que llamamos hogar) es una gran iniciativa pública en el campo de las humanidades\, dirigida por Library of America con el generoso apoyo del Fondo Nacional para las Humanidades y Emerson Collective\, que comprende programas públicos por todo el país; un archivo multimedia; y una nueva antología sin precedentes. \nJoin Nevada Humanities and Latino Arte and Culture on Saturday\, April 19\, 2025\, from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm at the Sierra View Library in Reno for an afternoon of music\, poetry\, and conversation as we celebrate Latino poetry and poets. Introductory remarks will be provided by Dr. Manuel Murrieta Saldivar\, associate professor of Spanish and Literature at California State University\, Stanislaus. We will explore themes of family\, heritage\, language\, and what it means to be Latino today\, with featured performances of rapping by Orlando Oh and poetry from Mario DelaRosa\, Jafeth Sanchez\, Genevy Machuca\, and Elisa Garcia in English\, Spanish\, and Spanglish.
