Audiences vote for the winner in the collectable LITTLE MISS BUTTCRACKER playing Friday\, December 6 through December 21\, 2024. What began as a parody of The Nutcracker\, has evolved into a regional cult classic\, offering a different underbelly to the original ballet each year it is performed. Not for ballet purists or those with tight slippers. Recommended: 12 years and up. Get your tickets early! \nTHE STORY: For your holiday titillations\, an all original BÜTTCRACKER opens Friday\, December 6 playing through December 21\, 2024. In Little Miss Buttcracker\, Clara becomes Olive as her family puts the fun back into “dysfunctional” as they embark on a cross country journey to engage in pageantry and competition with the Dance Moms. Brükaisms abound in this 12th rendition which is more of a Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride than a “tighten your toe shoes to the music” kind of experience. \nTICKET INFORMATION\nArtist Night Tickets must be purchased in advance to receive a discount of our regularly priced tickets. SUMMARY:Waterways - Art Exhibition & Reception with Ashley Gottlieb
DESCRIPTION:“Waterways” is an exhibition of new work by Reno-based artist Ashley Gottlieb. The exhibition runs from November 14-December 2024 at the Northwest Reno Library Art Gallery in Reno\, NV. \nSave the date for the reception: Saturday\, November 23 @ 1-2:30 pm. I hope you’ll join me! \nLearn more about the artist and her work at http://www.ashleygottlieb.com \nABOUT THE SHOW: \n“Waterways” is an abstract journey through landscapes near water and an exploration of the profound emotions I feel when in water’s presence. The paintings in this collection transport viewers to rivers\, lakes\, oceans\, creeks\, waterfalls\, and other aqueous realms. With a colorful palette and my playful abstract style\, I endeavor to convey my reverence for and love of water. \nNature offers myriad wonders that inspire and fascinate\, yet few evoke such powerful emotions as the sight and sound of water. It possesses a captivating duality\, capable of soothing our souls while also holding the potential for immense power and destruction. Beneath its surface lies a world of mystery\, an enigmatic realm that beckons exploration and contemplation. Water pulses with a vitality that mirrors that of a living being\, infusing us with a heightened sense of aliveness in its presence. \nA deep sense of awe and humility washes over me in the presence of water. I believe this is one of the most moving combinations of feelings that one can experience. I hope that these works will serve as a catalyst for introspection\, inviting viewers to reflect upon their own encounters with water and within these paintings may they find their way to a moment of serenity amidst the chaos of daily life. \n~Ashley Gottlieb

SUMMARY:The Laramie Project
DESCRIPTION:In October 1998\, a twenty-one-year-old student at the University of Wyoming was kidnapped\, severely beaten\, and left tied to a fence in the middle of the prairie outside Laramie\, Wyoming. His bloody\, bruised\, and battered body was not discovered until the next day\, and he died several days later in an area hospital. His name was Matthew Shepard\, and he was the victim of this assault because he was gay. Moisés Kaufman and fellow members of the Tectonic Theater Project made six trips to Laramie over the course of a year and a half\, in the aftermath of the beating and during the trial of the two young men accused of killing Shepard. They conducted more than 200 interviews with the people of the town. Some people interviewed were directly connected to the case\, while others were citizens of Laramie\, and the breadth of the reactions to the crime is fascinating. Kaufman and Tectonic Theater members have constructed a deeply moving theatrical experience from these interviews and their own experiences in Laramie.
