SUMMARY:TMCC Portfolio Emphasis Showcase Austin Arazosa\, Aileen Huerta\, Sean McHaney
DESCRIPTION:November 17 – December 23\, 2025 \nWe invite you to explore the Truckee Meadows Community College Portfolio Emphasis Showcase. “3 Visions” features a series of figurative works created by TMCC Art 298 Portfolio Emphasis students Austin Arazosa\, Aileen Huerta\, and Sean McHaney. Each artist presents a unique perspective\, using painting and drawing to investigate identity\, perception\, and the complexities of human expression. Together\, their works highlight the diverse approaches and voices emerging from TMCC’s Visual Arts program\, offering viewers an opportunity to experience three distinct artistic visions united by a shared focus on figurative practice.\nSean McHaney on their work: “In the series 5 and 5\, I explore the fragile line between beauty and danger. My subjects are women\, depicted in vulnerable poses\, placed into ominous environments that turn beauty into something both admired and threatened. By repeating the same two images across five different mediums\, I amplify and condemn the tension between desire and fear.”\nAileen Huerta on their work: “En Tu Ausencia” (in your absence) is a series of acrylic paintings exploring the emotional impact of growing up with an absent parent. Through the use of small abstract line work and color symbolism\, I transform memories of loneliness into dream-like reflections of acceptance. This series represents my journey towards healing and finding closure in what once felt incomplete.\nTogether\, these three artists create a multifaceted exploration of reality\, emotion\, and connection. The Portfolio Emphasis Showcase is a testament to their individual visions and artistic growth. We encourage you to immerse yourself in their work and experience the unique narrative each artist conveys through their creative practices.\nGallery West\, located in McKinley Arts & Culture Center is one of three galleries operated by the City of Reno. SUMMARY:Artist In Action
DESCRIPTION:Stop by Darkshot Coffee\, grab a hot or cold beverage\, check out local art\, and meet the Artist In Action: \nEileen Fuller \nTuesday\, February 17\, 2026\, from 9 am-12 pm \nLocated at:\nDarkshot Coffee\nIn the lobby\, 300 E. 2nd St.\, #101\nReno\, NV 89501 \nAbout The Artist: \nEileen Fuller is principally a watercolor artist\, with recent forays into pastels and other multiple-media art. She began drawing and painting as a preschooler. Although the materials were put on the back shelf\, Eileen continued to return to her art throughout her life. \nAfter Eileen’s family grew\, she reawakened the artist within by taking numerous workshops and immersion in the artist community in Northern Nevada. She retired from the banking industry in 2003 and never looked back! She is a longtime member of the Sierra Watercolor Society and the Latimer Art Club (established in 1921.) In 2021 she organized four art shows celebrating the club’s 100th anniversary. Eileen is also a member of the Artists Co-operative of Reno since 2010. She is continuing a 3-year term as its president. \nLandscapes are her favorite subject. And with the variety of scenery in the surrounding area\, there is no shortage of places she likes to paint on site or photograph for incorporation into works to be finished in her studio. Eileen also loves to paint while traveling. \nAs a teacher of basic to intermediate watercolor\, she believes that each of us was born with creative abilities. These abilities may be dormant but can be brought out if we are willing to make the effort. If you are interested in awakening the “artist within” or in a commissioned piece\, contact her at 775-233-4796 or at eileen.fuller@sbcglobal.net. \n
