DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Dates: September 8 – October 16\nReception: Wednesday\, October 14\, 5pm-7pm \n“Bring Your Own Camera” highlights talented photographers from the Reno/Sparks community and the images they have captured while taking part in The Holland Project’s monthly photo walks. Each month a new local photographer curates a route and takes the group on a walk. It’s a fun opportunity to meet and hang out with fellow photographers and creatives from the area\, share tips and tricks\, and get out to explore the community through the view finder of your camera. This workshop has been hosted by the likes of Rachel Dickson\, Patrick Ortiz\, Jack Scribner\, Tatum Hanshew\, Dean Burton\, Alana Boise\, Chris Harveybyrd\, and more! SUMMARY:The Hunt for the Blue Grump
DESCRIPTION:Show Dates: September 8 – October 16 \nReception: Wednesday\, October 14\, 5pm-7pm \nThe Hunt for the Blue Grump exhibit is from the wild world of the Upside Down Universe\, Reno’s largest collaboratively created interactive art immersive brought to life by over 65 artists. The blue grump grumps are a city-dwelling people of great esteem and prowess. Behold their abilities to negotiate deals\, increase fame\, and acquire great fortunes. The blue grumps herald the dawn of a new immersive\, Upside Down City\, coming to Reno in 2028. \nEach dancing grump grump creature was made by seven artists from The Potentialist Workshop collective. To see more grump grumps\, lizard chefs\, talking mushrooms and dancing witches\, visit their art immersive at 826 E 2nd Street in Reno. DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Dates: September 8 – November 6\nReception: Thursday\, October 22\, 5 – 7pm \n“An eye not told what to see\, sees more.” \n“Abstract artwork is open to the viewer’s interpretation and can elicit emotions\, memories\, and associations that work on a deep level to stir the soul\,” says City Artist Joanna Drakos. “I hope to do just that with my curated exhibition in Reno City Hall Metro Gallery.” \nThis curated group show is the penultimate realization of a goal Joanna set a few years ago: to showcase local\, non-representational\, abstract painting for Reno audiences. This exhibition is a crucial step towards engaging and educating the public on the artistry of this expressive painting style.
