Jake Shimabukuro at the Hawkins Amphitheater
Jake Shimabukuro played to a sold-out house last week at Hawkins Amphitheater for Artown 2018.
For a Ukulele player, he has turned the tides of how this instrument is played. He plays it like a 6 string guitar player would. The sounds and arrangements that he put forth are nothing like most players of the Ukulele. His rendition of George Harrison’s “My Guitar Gently Sleeps” was like no other along with The Zombies “Time Of The Season” and Hendrix’s “If 6 was 9”.
I talked to him for a few minutes before the show about the work he had done in the studio with Alan Parsons and he said it was something he never experienced before in the studio. He also said he will be working on another project with him coming up soon.
If you have never seen him live then the next chance he comes to a venue close to you, you better go see him. It will be a show you won’t regret seeing and enjoying.
