Ron Howard’s Documentary Pavarotti

Premiere Screening Event—In Cinemas June 4

Over the course of his storied career, Luciano Pavarotti conquered not only the world’s greatest stages but also the hearts of generations of opera lovers. Now, a new documentary from Academy Award–winning filmmaker Ron Howard tears back the curtain on Pavarotti’s fascinating life story, offering audiences a never-before-seen look at the man who brought opera to the people. Pavarotti combines live performance footage, behind-the-scenes video, and home movies from the Pavarotti family archives to show how this legendary artist rose from humble beginnings in Northern Italy and went on to achieve global superstardom.  This exclusive screening event will take place across the U.S. on June 4th.

Here is the official trailer:

Pavarotti was famous for so many things including being a part of The Three Tenors:

Here’s what director Ron Howard had to say:  “Look at the way music has become so important in the medium in general, whether it’s scripted or documentary. I think it’s something to rally an audience around. Technology is such that we can offer a kind of concert experience.  Our intention was to make this as much of an opera as it is a human-interest story about Pavarotti.”

Throughout the documentary, interviews with the singer’s family and colleagues and behind-the-scenes footage are overlaid with his most recognizable performances, like “Nessun Dorma” and “O Sole Mio.”

“He’s so charismatic and there’s so much spirit around him. That seemed to find its way to this audience,” said Howard. “It was an early goal to tell the story in a way that I wanted it to be an opera about Pavarotti using the arias that he performed so brilliantly.”

Pavarotti will be shown at the Riverside 12 and Summit Sierra theaters in Reno at 7 PM on Tuesday, June 4th.  The runtime is 1 hr. 55 min.
