Send me to Lunch-Carolina’s Kitchen & BBQ
~Photos and story by Gary Weinheimer~
Today you sent me to Carolina’s Kitchen & BBQ. I was joined by Christopher and Carol Blum for lunch. Two very cool people that I highly recommend as lunch dates any time.
To be quite honest, I have eaten at this restaurant before and have always loved their pork, which is what they are famous for. (They have numerous awards) Chris and I both had their pulled pork sandwiches while Carol had the Hot Link sandwich. As always the pork was tasty, smokey while not being overly woody and the mild sauce that I put on the sandwich was thin and tangy soaking into the meat well.
The price was reasonable (I paid under twelve dollars for the large sandwich and a regular fountain beverage with slaw and chips) I tend to wait until after the lunch rush and I suggest you do the same as there were a number of people leaving as I got there at just before 1:00 PM. It’s always clean inside and the simple tables are covered with nice blue checkered table clothes. The atmosphere is definitely dinner, but don’t let the simplicity fool you the food is some of the best BBQ I’ve had since I’ve been in the south.
The one complaint I have has nothing to do with the food. There is no Handicapped parking at all in the parking lot. Personally, that’s a bit of a blight for me, but obviously not enough to keep me from eating there. It would be good to remember if you need anything more than a cane to assist you in getting around though.
Overall the staff is friendly and efficient and if they aren’t really busy you can expect your food really quickly. (I think it took under five minutes for us to get our lunch) I give it two thumbs up and a full belly. Go give it a try if you haven’t.
