Humanities at Play: Scientific Controversies and Board Games with Emma Frances Bloomfield

March 8 @ 1:00 pm3:00 pm

Why do controversial narratives stick, and how can we effectively counter them through storytelling? How do we strengthen science communication and make stories more inclusive and engaging? These are just some of the questions we’ll explore with Emma Frances Bloomfield, associate professor of communication studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, at Meepleville Board Game Cafe on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 1 pm.

At this Humanities at Play in-person event, Bloomfield will first discuss her research and work on scientific controversies and board games as interventional, educational spaces, and then audience members will be able to play through related games such as Daybreak, Darwin’s Journey, and Catan: New Energies.

This is a free event. Space is limited and advanced registration is required. This event is intended for participants 16 and older.
