SEASON AUDITIONS FOR BRÜKA THEATRE’S 32nd SEASON

Sunday, September 15, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. (Time May Be Extended to Allow For Sign-Ups.) Brüka Theatre will hold open season auditions for the 32nd Season – Transcendence. We hope you will share your talent with The Bruka Theatre and our community. Expectations: Perform A One Minute Monologue (Timed) with introduction.

General Information: Sign up for a slot online at “signupgenius.com” or contact Bruka Theatre for an online invitation. Email:brukaproduction or call 775-323-3221. You will need to leave an email address. Please take a moment – Make sure you fill out the Audition Form @ https://forms.gle/HVJo4QdQBb9BrMWu8 If you need special assistance please email brukaproduction@gmail.com for advance elevator use. There are stairs to the actual auditions.

The Day Of The Audition: please enter Brüka Theatre from the side-door entrance located in downtown Reno on First Street. The waiting area is upstairs. We suggest you arrive 15 minutes before your audition. You will be ushered downstairs at your scheduled time. We want to utilize your time the best we can, so please check in at least ten minutes before your scheduled audition time. If you have not signed up for a slot, you may sign up on the day of the audition if there are any openings.

Actors will be seen by the directors and company of this season’s productions in groups of five. Please prepare one contemporary monologue. The maximum time is one minute total for each audition. Reminder – You will be timed and stopped at one minute. Please dress appropriately – and please no flip-flops! Please bring your current resume and a photo. Directors will be allowed to ask up to three questions if desired of the auditioners. This season at Bruka we are celebrating diversity in all its beauty.

You will be auditioning for our 2024/25 shows scheduled October 2024 – July 2025. Callbacks will be held at a later date. We are also looking for technical people, choreographers, music and vocal directors and volunteers for our season – if you are interested in helping in these areas – please send an email to our brukaproduction@gmail.com or call: (775) 323-3221.

LOCATION: Brüka Theatre is located at 99 N. Virginia Street at the corner of First and Virginia Streets in downtown Reno next to the Virginia Street Bridge.

PARKING: We suggest convenient parking in the Court Street parking lot across from The Pioneer Theater and walking across the new Virginia Street Bridge to Brüka, FREE after 5:00 PM and all day Saturday and Sundays.

We also validate parking at the Parking Gallery on First and Sierra Street. Please enter through the side door on First Street up to 15 minutes before the audition time.

THE BABY – The Bizarre 70’s Cult Classic Live On Stage! Directed By Michael Grimm

Written by Abe Polsky, adapted by Dan Spurgeon. Characters: Still looking for the title character of The Baby. Must be male identifying 20 – 40 actor. Very physical role requires the actor to wear what the baby would wear.

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE HUMAN KIND – Written & Directed by Bob Gabrielli. Various roles may be available in these five original short plays.

LITTLE MISS BUTTCRACKER – Little Miss Sunshine meets Dance Moms in this original parody of The Nutcracker. Created by Bruka Theatre. Rehearsing October – December. Performing December 2024. (13 Performances) Looking for up to 12 comedic actors that are comfortable with stage movement, dance and playing a variety of roles. Physically demanding. Roles include a variety of parents/children and pageant players.

BIGGEST little THEATRE & NEW WORKS FESTIVAL – JANUARY 2025 – Submissions will be open September 2024. Resumes/Headshots May be made available for varied original performances or readings.

MISS WITHERSPOON – In March of 2025, Rodney Hurst, director of holiday favorite Weber Family Christmas and who graced the Brüka stage in Kinky Boots, ThreePenny Opera and more now direct’s this dark comedy that was one of three finalists for the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for Drama; MISS WITHERSPOON written by the remarkable Christopher Durang. Casting: The script calls for 4 females (one African American and one sub continent Indian) and two males. Ages 20 – 60. Actors will be required to depict multiple characters in multiple dimensions of reality.

BRÜKALTON – A Regency Romantic Comedy/Parody. Created by Mary Bennett. Performing: April – May 2025. Looking for 6 men and 6 women. Ages 18 – 70 to play a variety of roles including the lead players in the Brukalton family.

RIDE THE CYCLONE (Musical) – In this hilarious and outlandish story, the lives of six teenagers from a Canadian chamber choir are cut short in a freak accident aboard a roller coaster. This popular musical is a funny, moving look at what makes a life well-lived! Casting For All Characters: Male/Female ages 18 – 25 and One Male ages 35 – 60.
