“How to Survive Your Family at Christmas” is a new play by Yassi Jahanmir, so new that it has yet to be published. This is quite an honor for Reno Little Theater to be the first to produce this new work.
Loretta Nutt avoids going home for Christmas, feeling no connection to her mom and dad; she wants to avoid them. But try as she might, it seems that the fates are conspiring to bring her home to learn the lessons of “How to Survive Your Family at Christmas.”
“Abraham Lincoln’s Big Gay Dance Party” takes place in Lincoln’s rural Illinois hometown. A fourth-grade Christmas Pageant crosses the line in questioning Lincoln’s sexuality, setting off a chain of events where the townspeople question everything. The play mirrors many community’s struggles in these changing times.
GLM’s production of “Evil Dead” (musical) takes parts of many of the Evil Dead movie franchises, combines them, and adds live music with singing and dancing to go with the blood and dismemberment. If you think that sounds good, then you would be right.
“The Moors” is a story of love, betrayal, family, and, most of all, isolation. This is a Dark Comedy that is wonderfully written and superbly acted. Bruka Theater has produced an intensely dark, funny, and intelligent play for their 30th season opener.
“Tiny Beautiful Things” takes the audience on a journey into those dark times that we all experience but seldom talk about. And it is done with nonjudgmental compassion that will bring you to tears.
Payne Showers is a struggling artist, that is, until the reports of his death in an avalanche. Upon his demise, the value of his art increases, and Payne’s estranged wife takes notice. Looking to cash in on her husband’s newly found value, Maggie arranges an action of his work through her gallery.
Take one part Grimm’s Fairy Tales and one part Stephen Sondheim’s music, add to that a talented cast, and you have “Into the Woods.’ Produced by the Sierra School of Performing Arts and performed at Bartley Ranch before hitting the road to Reno Little Theater, then it’s off to Carson City’s Brewery Arts Center.

In a way, “Quartet” is a coming-of-age play. Four aging opera singers find themselves in the same luxurious British retirement home. The same home that the composer Giuseppe Verdi bequeathed to become a retirement home for opera singers. These four have a history with each other, a rich and intriguing past indeed. Now, these four are challenged to do one last performance.
