Reno Stage Scene; ‘TINA – The Tina Turner Musical’

If you are a fan of Tina Turner or have ever enjoyed her music, you will thoroughly love the Broadway show TINA – The Tina Turner Musical. More than that, this is the story of a survivor who endured an abusive relationship, finding a way to thrive and become a true icon.

~Review by Dana Nöllsch~

Her story is incredible; you may know the backstory of when she married Ike Turner and how he shaped her early career. But what took the headlines more than her talent in those early days was the abuse and manipulation that Ike became infamous for. This part of the show is brutal and does not pull any punches concerning the verbal and physical abuse.

I talked to some other audience members, and they all were very emotional seeing what this talented and vulnerable woman endured. When Tina first met Ike, she was still Anna Mae, a 17-year-old girl with raw talent and a dream.

The abuse that Tina Turner endured shaped her into a survivor, not only a survivor but a woman who decided to take control of her life and career.

The show’s second half is when we see Tina Turner blossom into a performer who takes the stage and captivates her audience. The performances are electrifying, bringing the audience to their feet as Naomi Rodgers shows us the power that Tina Turner had on stage.

Reno’s very own Dallas Smith lends his musical talents to the Tina Turner Band. Be on the lookout for his solo.

TINA – The Tina Turner Musical is a rollercoaster ride punctuated by the music of a true icon. It is not only a history lesson but an experience that will stay with you.

It is incredible that Reno has this caliber of live entertainment to experience. This Broadway Comes to Reno season has an outstanding lineup that will exhilarate your emotions.
