Once again, the Reno favorite Buttcracker is gracing the stage at Brüka Theatre. This year is Buttcracker Neverland with a bit of a pirate slant and more.

The Story of Buttcracker Neverland
The story is a bit recognizable as the Nutcracker. Families show up to a holiday party, during the party, Clara consumes something she probably shouldn’t have, and when she goes to bed, her dreams are quite vivid.
This year, Clara’s dreams include pirates and fairies, with a bit of Dancing with the Stars thrown in for good measure.
The stage is filled with chaotic fun as each scene gets a little bit crazier than the next. Buttcracker Neverland is an all-original retelling of classic stories mixed by the talents at Brüka Theatre. Each year, they perform the Buttcracker, and the mashup is a little bit different. Peter Pan with Dancing with the Stars is perfect for this year.
If you have never seen a Buttcracker, and many people in Reno have and go back again every year, you really want to make an effort to see Buttcracker Neverland. But here is your challenge: they were completely sold out before they even opened, but you have a chance to put your name in at the door in case somebody cancels their reservation.
Late one evening in 2005, the idea of a parody of The Nutcracker was born at Bruka Theatre. The first year, 2006, was under the direction of Scott Beers & Mary Bennett with choreography by La Ronda Etheridge, Amy Ginder, Alex Biber, Adam Whitney, David Richards, Bill Ware, Scott Dundas, Andy Luna, Mary Bennett & many others. The set design was by Lewis Zaumeyer, technical design by David Simpson & narration by Brian Barney.
Here are some Photos to give you a taste of Buttcracker Neverland
What About the Performances
The performers in Buttcracker Neverland are a joy to watch, having so much fun on stage. Each scene has many elements going on at once, so there is never a dull moment.
This ensemble cast will keep you laughing with twisted holiday cheer.
The Bottom Line
If you’re one of the lucky ones who already have your tickets for Buttcracker Neverland, you are in for quite a treat.
For those of you who do not have your tickets yet, I have no doubt more shows will be added, and you can always show up before the doors open, put your name in, and take your chances on getting a seat or two.
