Die Difficult, The Story
Die Difficult is an original Parody by Good Luck Macbeth Theatre Company told by a narrator to his grandson.
John McClane (Played by Cory Easley) is a hardened NY Cop on his way to be with his estranged wife Holly (Played by Sophie Moeller) in Los Angeles at her company Christmas Party. McClane arrives at the airport to find that his wife’s company sent a limo for him with a very hip driver named Houndstooth (Played by Colleen Keene).
When McClane arrives at the company office in a highrise still under construction, the party is in full swing. Everyone is having a great time and looks good for the evening with his wife. But there is trouble on the way from a group of criminals who have their sights on more than just dancing and participating in the charcuterie.
This is when the action starts with McClane facing off with the leader of the nefarious gang, Hans Gruber (Played by Jayton Newbury).
There are many 1980s references written into the story and elements of the original Die Hard that will have you laughing for the entire performance. I won’t tell you more about the story so that there are no spoilers if you have not seen the movie, but I can say that the story will keep you on the edge of your seat and on the floor laughing if it is possible to do both at the same time.

The Performances
The actors are great, with performances that will transport you back to the simpler times of the 1980s. The ensemble cast plays off each other, enhancing the writing and dramatic storyline. Some of the cast play many characters with a bit of humor and fun as they do.
As with many of the productions at GLM, it is apparent that the actors are having fun with their characters, and this is true with Die Difficult.
Bottom Line
If you are a fan of the original Die Hard, you will love Die Difficult. If you are a fan of the 1980s, you will adore the references laced in the story. If you are like me and enjoy arguing with your friends about whether Die Hard is a Christmas Movie, bring your friends and argue away.
There are many reasons to see Die Difficult, but the main reason is that it is just a fun time that will have you laughing.
