A woman driven by ambition faces those who see the reality beyond blind ambition in “Burst.”

More about “Burst”
Sarah Boyd has dreams and ambition, dreams to solve the world’s pollution challenges and the ambition to make it happen, even when those around her are skeptical. Her partner, Jennifer Weaver, who is the scientific brains of Tactix, the company they run together, doubts that the processes are ready to deploy, but her friend and boss, Sarah, won’t listen and moves forward without her support.
To make matters more complicated, there is a journalist who is ready to spill the beans to the waiting world.
The reporter, Alexis Lyons, has details pointing to Sarah’s subterfuge, designed to make things look better than they are, to attract more investors and resolve her financial difficulties. Alexis has gotten wind of this dynamic story when a former supporter and both Sarah and Jennifer’s former college professor filed a lawsuit against the company for infringement.

What about the Performances
The performances are great, if not a bit filled with yelling and anger. The cast plays well together to bring this well-written story to the stage.
Alejandra Linares, who plays the intrepid reporter, is fantastic as her character manipulates Sarah and stands strong even in the face of a strong personality.
The powerful CEO, Sarah, is played by Alexandra Jobe. Alexandra brings her character to life by conveying that Sarah is frustrated with the lack of progress from her R&D department and just won’t accept failure at any cost.
Jennifer Weaver, Sarah’s long-time friend and business partner, is played by Sarah Keller. Jennifer knows the science, and she is sure it is not ready to deploy, but her warnings fall on deaf ears. Sarah conveys her character’s frustration to the audience through her performance.
The Bottom Line
Burst is well written and well acted, and it also touches on the global pollution problem as Tactix searches for answers in a complex industry. After seeing the play, you may think twice about throwing away that water bottle.
Fun to watch and entertaining, Burst is 90 minutes of empowered women, great acting, and a spotlight on our passion for polluting.
And That’s the Bottom Line!
