Reno Stage Scene; “Murder Mystery at the Heebie Jeebie JuiceBox Company” at GLM

The Heebie Jeebie JuiceBox Company is celebrating its success. But with any family-owned business, there are jealousies, and perhaps even murder. “The Murder Mystery at the Heebie Jeebie JuiceBox Company” is a fun tale with a splatter zone at Good Luck Macbeth.

Murder Mystery at the Heebie Jeebie JuiceBox Company: The Story

The murder mystery starts at a small-town grocery store on a very snowy evening. There is much excitement as one of the major businesses in this small town, the Heebie Jeebie JuiceBox Company, is about to celebrate a milestone in its success with a baked potato feed.

This all seems well and good, but there is a masked killer making their presence known on this stormy, quiet evening.

The next day, as preparations for the celebration begin, the company’s workers find themselves potatoless, with no explanation. But soon they do find the reason for the absence of potatoes, but not before Detective De La Cruz makes his presence known, and with his presence, the dead bodies start to pile up like cordwood on an old man’s farm.

As with Angelo “Lily” Perez’s previous play, “Murder Mystery at the Mother Regina”, the story is a bit loose, and the clues have more to do with red herrings, but the fun and the laughs flow just like the blood in the splatter zone.

But don’t fret, by the end of the story, the murderers make themselves known, and Detective De La Cruz does what he does best, arresting the bad guys after so many murders.

How about the Performances

The cast is wonderful and, as with many plays at Good Luck Macbeth, they seem to be enjoying themselves as much as the audience. The joy that radiates from the cast is truly infectious.

This is quite a large and diverse cast who play well together on stage, much to the delight of the audience. Thanks to the actors’ talents and the story’s pure fun. The Murder Mystery at the Heebie Jeebie JuiceBox Company is an entertaining delight from beginning to end.

The Bottom Line

The Murder Mystery at the Heebie Jeebie JuiceBox Company is the second mystery tale from Angelo “Lily” Perez, and as with their first, “Murder Mystery at the Mother Regina”, it is pure fun and even more laughs than there is blood in the splatter zone. Be sure to take advantage of the splatter zone, but don’t wear your Sunday Best as there will be blood.

There is a brilliant balance of diversity in both the characters and the method of murders that the audience will appreciate.
