In The Sidhe (Shee), superstition takes over common sense? The setting is in 1800s Ireland, and the Cleary family is in chaos.

The Sidhe: The Story
It is 1800s Ireland, and the Cleary family is in chaos. Bridget, the family’s mother, finds herself in crisis when an old family friend, Jack Dunne, inserts himself into her family’s affairs. Bridget’s husband, Michael, is truly not much help; in fact, he may be more of a problem than Jack.
Jack is adamant that Bridget is possessed by a Sidhe (pronounced shee), a shape-shifting witch from Irish folklore, and uses his influence over Michael to manipulate the family. There is a troubling connection between Bridget and Jack that stems from Bridget’s childhood, when Jack was not very nice and still isn’t.
The story is deep, dark, and disturbing, but definitely well worth seeing. I do not want to give away anymore of the story, but suffice it to say that this dark tale, based on historical events and written by a local playwright (Sandra Neace), is more than worth your time if you are looking for extremely well-written, well-acted, impactful theater.
The story is dark and perhaps a bit triggering, but the writing is brilliant and works extremely well with the wonderful actors on stage

How about the Performances
The actors truly show passion for this story. There is no comic relief throughout the play, so it is very impressive that the actors remain deeply in character, giving stellar performances that you should not miss if you truly love live theater.
The Set
The set is simple yet very effective; its simplicity enhances the story’s depth.
The Bottom Line
Sandra Neace’s stellar writing and the cast’s passionate portrayals are the reasons you should see The Sidhe. Be forewarned that the story is dark and could trigger certain people who have had childhood abuse or abuse as an adult. But this in itself is no reason to shy away from seeing this important and poignant tale.
